Partnering for Orphan Care
IBF DigiLabs, a member of the IBF Net Group has recently announced a slew of partnerships with several non-profit organisations in Indonesia including Asar Humanity Foundation, Mizan Amanah Foundation, Kapiler Indonesia Foundation, Panti Asuhan Tebet, and others. These organisations under the partnership would now be able to benefit from the various blockchain-based platforms developed and operated by the Singapore-based company for their social projects including orphan care. The platforms should enable the organisations to reach out to a larger community of donors and volunteers and raise financial and human resources that are critical inputs for provision of quality orphan care. The latest move is a strategic initiative to leverage the power of blockchain technology to meet some critical challenges of orphan care related to limited financial and infrastructural capabilities.
The technology-driven solution aims to bring together donors, volunteers as well as the care professionals on a single platform so as to address the issues of insufficient funding, lack of educational facilities, healthcare services, and other essential resources that hinder the well-being and development of the children under institutional care. Technology may also provide for regular screening of these children for behavioural and emotional problems and timely counselling by professionals available on the platform. “None of these beautiful goals are achievable without effective partnership among relevant organisations. We have moved pretty fast with implementation of our partnerships, since the platform is already fully functional,” said Mohammed Alim, CEO, IBF DigiLabs.
“Our partners already have a formidable presence in the orphan care space. Asar Humanity Foundation in its four years of existence has already served over 500,000 beneficiaries with over 7500 volunteering engagements with presence in 7 countries. Mizan Amanah Foundation is a 28-year-old national zakat institution that started its social programs that explicitly focus on helping the orphans and is currently serving over 1000 orphans and vulnerable children through its 57 branches/ dormitories. Kapiler Indonesia Foundation is another partner that already serves 370 orphanages across Indonesia. Panti Asuhan Tebet is an organisation completely focused on orphan care, set up in the year 1999. Panti Asuhan Tebet or the Future Youth Foundation aims to empower the lives of orphans, school dropouts, neglected children, poor children and child workers so that they are smart, skilled and independent, and have a better future. We are actively engaged in talks with many more organisations with similar objectives”, according to Mohammed Alim.
“This collaboration will provide orphanages and foundations with an expanded market, consequently amplifying the social impact they deliver. Benevolence as the philanthropy platform assumes added significance in light of findings from studies by experts associated with IBF Net, which indicate a huge gap between potential mobilisation of philanthropy-driven resources and their actual realisation. The Benevolence platform is therefore expected to make a significant contribution to efforts at mainstreaming the Islamic philanthropic sector at a global level,” said Mohammed Alim.
